Over the next week I’ll be putting up some pics and a few stories of starting off racing in Enduro Karts with IKF, International Kart Federation, back in the day in the early Seventies and into the Eighties when Pop and I ran “Lay Down” Karts at full size road courses like Riverside, Ontario Motor Speedway and IRP, Indianapolis Raceway Park.
Please come back soon……..TACH IT UP!!!
At Riverside in 1977 getting ready to go out for practice running in OPEN LIGHT .
Our MARGAY Kart after getting it’s new Paint Scheme with a Pearl Blue Murano with Candy Blue and Red stripes as I had seen with the ’70/’71 Dodge Challenger of “Dandy” Dick Landy running in NHRA Pro Stock
Helmet getting ready to head out…..We were running a Titainium Frame “HORNET” Kart and ironically there is a Hornet that landed on my Yellow lid. Interesting that i’ve found the they are attracted to yellow in running our Yellow Mustang.
My first race in 1972 with my brother as support. This was at Blackhawk Farms Race Track in Northern Illinois , an SCCA road course…
At Riverside in 1976 getting ready to head out for practice with the Open Light Hornet Kart with the Titainium Frame after we put the extension “porch” in front to extend your legs and feet out farther. Pictured with my Dad, Brother, Aunt and Uncle and good friend Dennis with the push as the gearing we ran was for top speed on that long back straight on the famous road course in So Cal.
