On Monday afternoon of August 5, 2019, Hot August Nights officially kicked off it’s 33rd year of the celebration of nostalgia, cars and music here in the Reno\/Tahoe area. We were out at the Peppermill Casino Resort in the mid afternoon until early evening then finished off the evening at the Atlantis Casino Resort, our traditional hangout, for the opening evening festivities. This begins a week long event in Northern Nevada that will bring over 5000 official entered cars and over a half million visitors to the “BIGGEST LITTLE CITY”. Of the 33 years that the event has been held, we have participated in the celebration for 28 of them with many different cars ranging from ’56 Chevy to GTO’s to Mustangs and old Buicks and a Camaro or 2 and even an old Porsche. This year we have out our GT3 SCCA Road Race Mustang and both a ’71 Nova and towards the last day of event a ’69 Corvette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Road Race Mustang and Nova with old “Frank” the 1979 Chevy Ranch\/Tow truck at Peppermill before the National Anthem plays…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the event we have put on an extra “Black Band” fender stripe in honor of the Father of the Ford Mustang, Lee Iaococca who passed away recently. A few keen observers and auto history buffs have caught this tribute..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Awesome 1957 Ford Thunderbird with the soft top and old Halibrand Race Wheels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solid looking 1966 Corvette Fastback with a “Big Block” engine. Nice red ’69 Mustang Mach I in background…….Both American icons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the British contingent, here is a fantastic 1966 Triumph Spitfire MK II in “McLaren” butterscotch orange. This one has the optional hardtop. Love now seeing these out as I had one in college many moons ago that was originally British Racing Green and we did a bit of custom painting on it with a change to Silver Murano Pearl at Pops old shop at Custom Craft…..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also as part of the British parade was this beautiful ’66\/’67 MGB-GT next to the old “SPIT”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not too often are you going to see an Austin-Healy and a ’70 Plymouth ‘CUDA next to each other…….<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Also behind us with the “Brit’s Group” was a 1966 Austin Mini. These are another iconic British machine that helped kick off the small car performance craze. This pic for my wife who likes these as we have a New Mini for her to drive here in the Reno\/Tahoe area…….”Cheerio”!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nice Rally Orange ’71 Chevy Camaro with the rally stripes and wheels. Always have liked the second generation cars as we have had a few of these previously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a super clean 1970 Ford Ranchero with the Cobra Jet Package. This classic has also been at many HAN events over the years and the owner is a good friend of my brother. They also own the ’69 Olds Cutlass Convertible next to this mean blue machine….<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From between the “Yellow Sub-Stang” and ‘ol Blue the Nova, a quintessential ’49 Ford with the wide whites cruises by at the Peppermill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our good friend Matt always brings out his Rangoon Red 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe with the family to the Atlantis for saving us great spots to watch the action. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next to us was this super cool 1963 Covette “Split Window” Fastback with a mild custom treatment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1968 Pace Car Edition Ford Torino. Another machine you do not see around too often….<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
