The Hot August Nights Event here in the Reno\/Tahoe area is back for 2021 for the 34th year. We have been participating in the action for past 30 years with many different cars and have started the early years when it was just a cruise up and down Virginia Street , through downtown, up to University of Nevada Reno and a parking lot tent set up called “Hamburger Haven” to the Large Casino Driven over a week long attraction that HAN has become for enthusiasts and participants. Over the last few years, we have been kind of “old time traditionalists’ and have typically gone out for 2 to 3 days and have hung out near where we used to live in Southwest Reno, at the Atlantis Casino and the Peppermill Resort. It appears that this year the car participant entries number around 6000, so the count is certainly back up after the cancellation of the 2020 HAN due to Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are just a few pictures from the Atlantis Casino Cruise and Show & Shine from Mid-Week on the Wednesday afternoon of August 4, 2021. We are planning on going back out on the Friday afternoon\/evening show also and to take in the M.A.G. Auctions action at the Convention Center, however with ALL the smoke and ash that has now blown into the valley from the devastating fires just to the north and south of us, not sure how much we will actually be outside by any cars and if we want to take out our “Stang and sit out to talk to people as we usually have done for all these years……..We’ll see. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My brother brought out the 1965 Volkswagen Bug with the semi-Cal Look from all our other bugs from All Those Years Ago. Next to the Bug is one of our great associates ’79 GMC “Tow Special”……..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am a huge fan of these early Datsun 240 Z’s and this one was pulled in and parked just down from us. For a long time we didn’t see too many classic sports cars at HAN as they weren’t “traditional” Hot Rods or Muscle Cars. A number of years back we did bring out our 1968 Porsche 911 R replica race car and like to think that we helped seeing more sports cars out at HAN. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
